⚔ Brotherhood

FORMING

MEN

A Brotherhood of Men After God's Heart

Forming Men is a brotherhood — a community of men walking together in faith, honesty, and purpose. We are not a program. We are men who have chosen to stop going it alone, to sharpen one another, and to pursue God's calling with everything we have.

I
Identity in Christ

Dismantling the lies and reclaiming who God says you are — not who the world has told you to be.

II
Scripture & Sacred Habits

Building daily rhythms of prayer, Word, and worship that anchor the soul through every storm.

III
Healing & Restoration

Walking through guilt, failure, and brokenness with grace — because no man is too far gone.

IV
Purpose & Legacy

Rising to lead with strength — as fathers, sons, brothers, and men called to reflect the image of God.

Beneath
the Veil

Brandon Hokenstad · April 14, 2026

A warrior's reckoning with the enemy's silent war — and the ancient call to rise, to pray, and to fight on our knees before we stand.

"For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the cosmic powers over this present darkness." — Ephesians 6:12

The devil moves with patient skill,

His plan to seek, destroy and kill.

He steals our joy and will to live,

Til nothing's left for us to give.

His war is one that makes no sound,

Where truth is lost and fear is crowned.

No gnashing steel, no trumpet cry,

It stalks the soul and feeds the lie.

It seeps through cracks within the mind,

And plants the seeds that make us blind.

It stains the air with poisoned breath,

And whispers soft the taste of death.

It floods our days with noise and haste,

Til sacred hungers laid to waste.

It stirs offense, ignites divide,

Let's wounded pride become our guide.

This fight against his darkened throne,

Not flesh and bone, nor blood alone.

But powers cloaked beyond our sight,

A battle waged against the light.

But when our sleeping hearts awake,

And trembling men our idols break.

We see this scheme for what it is,

A battle fought in realms not his.

Like Daniel bowed in foreign lands,

With fasting heart and lifted hands.

His quiet pleas though none could see,

Released a clash to set men free.

For twenty days the heavens warred,

Til Angel armies brought the sword.

His steadfast faith refused to yield,

Until the breakthrough was revealed.

Now we must learn the ancient way,

To seek His face, to trust, to pray.

To fight on knees before we stand,

To yield our pride to His command.

For strength is not in mortal frame,

But in the power of His name.

So strap His truth around your waist,

And face the dark with fearless grace.

In shadows dark where nights are long,

Men often feel they've lost their song.

A restless ache consumes each day,

While silence steals their voice away.

But then a word from ancient scrolls,

A sacred whisper wakes their souls.

"I know the plans I have" says he,

"To prosper you and not harm thee."

"Be strong and brave," His voice rings clear,

"For I am with you, always near."

As Moses led through barren land,

Rise up in faith and take your stand.

When battles rage and lions roar,

Lift up your shield and trust once more.

Like David faced Goliath's might,

No giant stands in Heaven's light.

Paul, once lost, found grace anew,

His sins erased, his purpose true.

No past can chain what God reclaims,

He breaks the grip of guilt and shame.

"Fear not," says Christ, "for you are mine,"

Stand firm and hold the battle line.

With every step, with every breath,

His promises will conquer death.

No longer bound by past mistakes,

A life of freedom now awakes.

So rise, O men, He calls your name,

No longer lost, but sons proclaimed.

Unchained:
A Call to Purpose

Brandon Hokenstad

From Moses to David to Paul — a call to every man who has felt lost, chained by his past, and silent in his purpose. God reclaims what guilt and shame try to keep.

"No past can chain what God reclaims. He breaks the grip of guilt and shame." — Rise, O men. He calls your name.

A Journey From
Darkness to Light

My name is Brandon Hokenstad. I am a father of two amazing children who bring immense joy and meaning to my life. As a divorced dad, I've faced many challenges — battling guilt, doubt, fear of failure, hopelessness, and depression. Through these trials, I discovered a profound truth: God's love is unconditional, and He created each of us with a unique purpose.

Writing poetry has been a vital part of my healing process. This website is not just a collection of poems — it is a testament to the transformative power of God's love and forgiveness.

"No matter what you are going through, you are perfectly made for this moment, and God's grace is always with you."

Featured Verse · Resurrection's Echo

In the silence of the tomb, hope lay still, wrapped in linen, cold against the hill. The disciples wept, the darkness deep — but Love was never truly asleep. Then morning broke with heaven's roar, the stone rolled back, death shut its door. He rose, He lives — grace multiplied, the echoes ring: He was not denied.

From Shadows
to Salvation

A story of brokenness, redemption, and the relentless pursuit of a God who never lets go.

The Darkness

Battles No One Saw

As a divorced dad, I carried guilt, doubt, and fear of failure that felt insurmountable. There were seasons where depression felt like a permanent address. But even in the silence, God was speaking.

The Turning

From Shadows to Salvation

In the darkest moments, I discovered that God's love is not conditional on my performance. His grace met me exactly where I was — broken, tired, and searching. That encounter changed everything.

The Renewal

Renewed Through Grace: A Father's Tale

Poetry became the language of my healing. Each verse I wrote was a step forward — a declaration that I was not defined by my failures but by the God who redeems them. My two children remind me daily of that gift.
